The Rt Hon Speaker of Parliament,Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin has called on Ghanaians not to see good Governance as a responsibility of any person, institution or a group of people but rather see it as a responsibility of all stakeholders.
He made this call during this year’s Speaker’s seminal lecture held at the University for Development Studies in Tamale on the theme “Working Together:Building Trust for a free,fair,credible and peaceful elections:The Role of Stakeholders”
According to the Rt Hon Speaker, trust is a key ingredient in human relationship. But gradually this ingredient is eluding the people.
”But we cannot achieve a free, fair , credible and peaceful elections without trust” and therefore made the call on all stakeholders to work together among each other and the institutions of state in order to achieve the needed results.
The main Speaker for the event was Prof. Emmanuel Kwesi Anning, a Security Consultant. Other Speakers were Mr Kofi Bentil of IMANI Africa and Mr Samuel Tettey from the Electoral Commission.
The event brought together participants from Chiefs,Academia, Religious Leaders,Civil Society Organizations, Political Parties,MMDA’S,Security Services,students, youth groups among others
