The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has strongly indicated that the next NDC government will actively seek accountability from current government appointees and officials of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Reinforcing the commitment made by NDC flagbearer John Dramani Mahama during the party’s manifesto launch at the University of Education, Winneba, on Saturday, August 24, Asiedu Nketiah confirmed that the NDC intends to investigate and prosecute all corrupt officials from the current administration.
He added that the NDC is unfazed by claims that the party represents a “scary alternative” to the NPP.
Asiedu Nketiah suggested that such warnings from the NPP leadership are part of a strategy to deter voters from choosing John Dramani Mahama, arguing that these concerns are voiced by those who fear being held accountable for their actions.
Addressing a crowd of NDC supporters in Somanya, Eastern Region, he asserted that those labelling the NDC as a frightening option are simply trying to avoid facing justice.
“That is why President Mahama said in Winneba that the next NDC government will not act out of greed or mistreat Ghanaians for selfish interests.
“For those claiming that the alternative is scary, tell them that it is only scary for wrongdoers. If you are a thief or a criminal, the alternative should indeed be scary. Under our government, no corrupt individual will go unpunished.”
