The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has stated that what Ghana’s economy needs at the moment is an upgrade, not a reset.
This is an apparent reference to a statement that the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Mahama has being making as part of his campaign messaging.
Ghana’s economy has not been in the best of shapes, a situation that the government acknowledges. It is for reason Mr Mahama has been calling for a reset.
However, addressing journalists at his maiden meet the press in Accra, Dr Bawumia disagreed with his main contender, Mr Mahama.
“What this country needs is an upgrade, not reset. And if given the mandate, I will roll out the measures outlined in our recently launched manifesto to revamp the economy,” he stated.
Dr Bawumia added, “Sometimes I get amazed when former president Mahama talks about economic mismanagement. He should know his own record.”
