The Electoral Commission (EC) has appealed to political parties to mobilise their members to participate in the ongoing voter exhibition exercise, following a disappointing turnout in the early days of the exercise.
The exercise, which is intended to allow voters to verify their details ahead of the upcoming elections, has recorded poor attendance at various exhibition centres.
The EC’s Head of Training, Dr. Serebour Quaicoe, addressed the situation during an interview on Peace FM’s ‘Kokrokoo morning show’, urging political parties to get involved by encouraging their grassroots supporters to participate in the exercise.
“We need them (political parties) to help us rid the register of deceased names.
“So they should encourage their members, especially in the grassroots, to patronise the exhibition at the centres; that will be more helpful to our course,” Dr. Quaicoe stressed.
The voter exhibition exercise, a critical step towards ensuring accurate voter information for the 2024 General Elections, is scheduled to end on Tuesday, August 27th, 2024.
