Okudzeto Ablakwa Delivers $1.2M Worth of Medical Equipment to Mepe Health Centre, Fulfilling Promise to Constituents

In a significant boost to healthcare in the North Tongu District, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has honored his commitment to the people of Mepe by presenting medical equipment worth $1.2 million to the newly constructed Mepe Health Centre. This gesture was part of a birthday celebration that marked a pivotal moment in the community’s healthcare journey.

The medical equipment, delivered in a 40-foot shipping container, includes state-of-the-art items such as anaesthesia machines, ECG/EKG units, ultrasound equipment, an endoscopy tower, x-ray machines, infant incubators and warmers, autoclaves, defibrillators, and much more. This comprehensive array of tools is set to revolutionize the health services offered at the facility, pushing it closer to becoming a fully modernized hospital by next year.

Ablakwa expressed profound gratitude to SOS International, a trusted partner headquartered in the USA, for their unwavering support in making this donation possible. He also acknowledged the contributions of Citi FM Foundation and the Ghana Chamber of Mines, who played a critical role in sponsoring the construction of the health center.

Reflecting on the journey, Ablakwa highlighted the importance of collective effort in rebuilding North Tongu after the devastating spillage from the Akosombo and Kpong Dams last year. The new health center’s proximity to the resettlement camp for displaced residents is a testament to the thoughtful planning that went into this project.

Looking ahead, Ablakwa envisions the expansion and upgrading of the Mepe Health Centre into a modern hospital, a goal that now seems within reach with this impressive collection of medical equipment. The people of Mepe and the entire North Tongu District can look forward to improved healthcare services, thanks to this remarkable initiative.
