Godwin Edudzi Tameklo, Director of Legal Affairs for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has sharply criticized Abetifi MP Bryan Acheampong over his recent comments about the upcoming general elections. Acheampong, who is also the Minister of Food and Agriculture, stated during a campaign rally in Nsawam-Adoagyiri that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) would “do whatever it takes” to secure victory in the elections, emphasizing the party’s strong backing from various religious and traditional groups.
Tameklo labeled Acheampong’s remarks as “irresponsible” and called on Ghanaians to hold the NPP accountable at the polls. He stressed that such statements undermine the democratic process and should be met with strong opposition from the electorate.
Joining the criticism, Tamale Central MP Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed condemned Acheampong’s comments, describing them as part of a pattern of reckless and dangerous rhetoric from NPP leaders. Murtala accused the ruling party of using divisive tactics, including religious and ethnic sentiments, to sway voters.
“Insha Allah, we will do everything possible to prevent the NPP from rigging this election,” Murtala vowed during his appearance on TV3’s “The Big Issue” on Monday, August 12.
