Former President and 2024 flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Mahama, has made a solemn pledge to maintain peace in Ghana before, during, and after the upcoming December general elections.
Speaking at the 31st Biennial General Council meeting of the Assemblies of God Church in the Upper East Region, Mahama emphasized that no political ambition justifies the loss of even a single Ghanaian life.
He recognized that Ghana’s stability is not merely a matter of luck but is rooted in the prayers and dedication of religious leaders. “It is no coincidence that Ghana remains an oasis of peace. The intercession of men and women of God has kept our nation secure,” he remarked, acknowledging the general anxiety that often accompanies election years.
“As a member of your church, I assure you that I am a proponent of peace. Should there be any violence, it will not originate from me. I am committed to ensuring Ghana’s tranquility because resorting to violence only harms the very people we aspire to govern. I firmly believe that even a single drop of Ghanaian blood is not worth the pursuit of political power or holding office. I give you my word on this,” he affirmed.
