H.E John Mahama Attends The Episcopal And Ordination Ceremony Of Most Reverend Francis Bomansaan

Upon the invitation of the Catholic Community in the Upper West Region, H.E John Dramani Mahama was, this morning, at the episcopal and ordination ceremony of the Most Reverend Francis Bomansaan, M, AFR, Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Wa.

Bishop Bamansaan, born on 19th January, 1962 in Kaleo, had his early education in Kaleo before proceeding to St Francis Xavier Junior Seminary and then Nandom Secondary School for his GCE O’Level and GCE A’ Level Certificates respectively.

He took his final oath in the Society of the Missionaries of Africa on 7th December, 1990. In 1991, he was ordained a parish priest in the Immaculate Conception Parish, Kaleo.

On 22nd May, 2024, the spiritual leader of the Catholic Community in the world, Pope Francis appointed Fr Bomansaan as the 5th Bishop of the Diocese of Wa to lead the Diocese, after the demise of Cardinal Richard Kuuia Baawobr, M, AFR on 27th November, 2022.

Until his present appointment, Bishop Bomansaan had held several positions since 1991 within the Catholic Mission.

H. E JDM, who spoke at the event as an invited guest, used the occasion to eulogize the late Baawobr and recounted his fond memories of him.

He thanked the Catholic Church for their continuous prayers for the nation

He congratulated the newly ordained Bishop and appealed to him to use his good office to pray for the nation, especially as we go into the 2024 general elections.
The former President urged all to continue to pray for the Bishop as he assumes office as the new leader of the Catholic Mission in the Region. He also urged the newly ordained Bishop to pray for the leaders of this country so that they will always put the interest of the nation first in all their endeavors

He indicated that, those tasked with the mandate of conducting elections in Ghana, should discharge their duties devoid of biases and should do their best to ensure free, fair and transparent elections. He cited the uprisings happening in neighboring Kenya and Nigeria as unfortunate incidents and asked all to pray for Ghana. He urged everyone to help protect our democracy and ensure peaceful coexistence.

The former President and his entourage was led to the grounds by the hardworking Regional Chairman, Nubanie Yelsungmaala Abdul Nasir Saani aka Bunas and the venerable MP for Wa Central, Hon Dr Hassan Rashid Pelpuo. The other dignitaries included: MPs for Lawra and Nadowli/Kaleo, Lawyer Bede A. Ziedeng and Anthony Mwinkaarah Sumah respectively, former ministers, Alhaji Amidu Suleman and Mahamud Khalid, PC for Lambussie, Prof Titus Kofi Beyuo, Regional and Constituency Executives, Former appointees, Elders, Party faithfuls and a host of people.

The President and his entourage has since left Wa for Bolgatanga.
