About 12% of Hassan Tampuli’s Voters in 2020 Switch to NDC Candidate – Global InfoAnalytics

A recent poll conducted by Global Info Analytics, a prominent Ghanaian polling agency, suggests that the incumbent Member of Parliament for Gushegu and Deputy Minister of Transport, Hassan Tampuli, may be facing a challenging battle to retain his seat in the upcoming 2024 Parliamentary election.

According to the poll, Tampuli’s main opponent, Yussif Malimali of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), is currently leading with 56.5% of the projected votes. In contrast, Tampuli lags behind with 41.9%.

The survey reveals a significant shift in voter loyalty, with 12% of Tampuli’s supporters from the 2020 election now backing Malimali. Additionally, a striking 75% of new voters, comprising both first-time voters and those who abstained in the previous election, are reportedly throwing their support behind the NDC candidate.

Mussa Dankwa, Executive Director of Global Info Analytics, discussed the poll results on Channel One TV’s Citiuation Room. He emphasized the need for Tampuli to scrutinize his campaign strategy, particularly focusing on demographics and key issues affecting the electorate.

“In the questionnaire, we asked voters, ‘Who did you vote for in the last parliamentary election?’ We categorized the responses into those who supported Malimali, those who supported Tampuli, those who didn’t vote, and those who refused to disclose their previous vote. Among those who voted for Tampuli in 2020, we discovered that 12% have shifted their allegiance to Malimali,” Dankwa explained.

“Furthermore, among those who did not vote in the last election, which includes both older voters and first-time voters, a substantial 75% are now favoring the NDC candidate, Malimali,” he added.

These findings indicate a potentially pivotal shift in voter dynamics in the Gushegu constituency, posing a significant challenge for Hassan Tampuli as he seeks re-election in 2024.
