GRA launches an investigation into border security leaks and bribery allegations

The Ghana Revenue Authority’s (GRA) Customs Division has assembled an investigative team to evaluate security flaws at the nation’s border crossings and investigate particular instances of purported bribery.

This follows revelations in JoyNews’ recent exposé, “Porous Borders,” which uncovered that some traders were paying GRA security officers in the Customs Division to smuggle items into Ghana from adjacent countries.

“Following the revelations made in JoyNews’ exposé ‘Porous Borders,’ the Ghana Revenue Authority’s (GRA) Customs Division has taken immediate steps to address the concerns raised. An investigative team has been constituted to evaluate the security flaws at our border crossings and investigate specific instances of alleged bribery involving our security personnel.
