Yagbonwura ‘sacks’ Abu Jinapor’s mediation delegation led by the defence minister

A high-powered government delegation, led by Minister of Defence, Dominic Nitiwul, visited the Yagbonwura’s palace in a bid to lift the ban placed on Samuel Abu Jinapor, the MP for Damongo and Minister for Lands and Natural Resources.

However, the delegation was asked to leave and return at a later time, onuaonline.com reports.

Sources at the Jakpa Palace reported that the delegation included Minister of Chieftaincy, Stephen Asamoah Boateng and the Savannah Regional Minister.

Despite their efforts, the Yagbonwura requested that they come back another time, stating he would be traveling to the Mamprugu Kingdom on Sunday for a historic visit.

He also mentioned the need to meet with his paramount chiefs before addressing the issue further.

“Yagbonwura told the delegation he will be traveling to the Mamprugu Kingdom on Sunday in yet another historic visit and also he said he will have to meet them with his paramount chiefs and so they should go and come later,” a source told the news portal.

Earlier, members of the National House of Chiefs and the Council of State had also visited the Jakpa Palace to mediate the situation.

The ban on Samuel Abu Jinapor was imposed by Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Soale Jewi, the King of the Gonja Kingdom, on Sunday, July 21, 2024.

The ban prevents Jinapor from entering any palace in Gonjaland due to allegations of insubordination, disrespect, and abuse of government powers.

Jinapor later issued a public apology, describing the Yagbonwura as a grandfather and father.
