It was a scene of glamour when the esteemed Walewale chief, Duurana Abudu Mahama, conferred the chieftaincy title of “Suhudoa Naa” (Chief of Peace) on H.E. John Dramani Mahama last night, July 22, 2024 when the former president paid a courtesy call to his palace having arrived at Walewale to attend a dinner and fundraising event organized by the NDC regional executives.
During the ceremony, Chief Duurana Abudu Mahama noted that the Walewale police station, built by Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, still houses officers in rented accommodations. He seized this opportunity to request the construction of police barracks should H.E. John Dramani Mahama come to power. He also appealed for the establishment of a tertiary institution in Walewale, emphasizing the absence of such facilities in the area.
This significant event was marked by a major and positive reception for John Dramani Mahama and the NDC, with a large, enthusiastic crowd cheering for the incoming president.
