GHC10bn invested in road projects since January 2024 – Amin Adam

Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, the Finance Minister, has disclosed that the government has invested almost 10 billion Ghana Cedis in the Road Sector since January 2024.

He explained that the investment aims to enhance transportation and spur economic growth.

During his presentation of the Mid-Year Budget Review in Parliament on Tuesday, July 23, the Finance Minister confirmed that the government has procured equipment to complement the efforts of local authorities in improving community roads nationwide.

“Mr. Speaker, we have invested almost 10 billion Ghana Cedis in the Road Sector since January 2024 to enhance transportation and spur growth. I can also confirm that the Government has secured equipment to complement the efforts of our local authorities in improving community roads nationwide,” he stated.

He highlighted several road projects that are steadily making progress, including Ofankor-Nsawam Road, Keta Water Supply, Obetsebi Lamptey and Flower Pot Interchanges, the three (3) by-passes on the Kumasi-Accra Highway, and the Tema Mpakadan Railway Line.

“Mr. Speaker, in line with our commitment to infrastructure development, we continue to make progress on projects such as the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Ofankor-Nsawam Road, Keta Water Supply, Obetsebi Lamptey and Flower Pot Interchanges, the three (3) by-passes on the Kumasi-Accra Highway, and the Tema Mpakadan Railway Line.”

He announced that the government has completed two major airport projects, including the Prempeh II International Airport in Kumasi and the Tamale International Airport, also known as the Yakubu Tali Airport.

“We have completed the Prempeh I International Airport in Kumasi and the Yakubu Tali International Airport in Tamale. Agenda 111 Hospitals are at various stages of completion. We have completed the Afari Hospital in Kumasi and many other hospitals across the country,” he said.
