A founding member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, is not confident in the duo put forth in the party’s bid to secure victory in the December polls.
According to him, no genuine election will see NPP flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, with running mate, Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh, emerge successful.
“That ticket I personally don’t believe can win a genuine election in this country,” he said.
He said this in an exclusive interview with JoySports’ Atsu Tamakloe.
Dr Tamakloe also suggested that Dr Bawumia did not have a hand in the selection of his running mate, a move he insists will stifle synergy.
“And as I predicted earlier, that there is no way Bawumia will have a free hand to pick his running mate? Never. I said it earlier, I have the tape. [I said] his running mate we pick for him. And that’s exactly what happened,” he said.
“Why should Bawumia not be allowed to pick his own running mate? Whether he will gel with his running mate, that is his palava.”
The NPP is eyeing electoral victory saying the two candidates are its best bet to stay in power.
But the former sports administrator is of a different view.
He cited Napo’s recent controversial assertion regarding Kwame Nkrumah as a mistake adding that it will be difficult for Ghanaians to forgive him.

“Certain mistakes are made and they are difficult to correct. So that mistake made by Napo, look at the reaction as a result of his statement that has sort of degenerated almost everywhere, even outside the country. Nigerians are even talking about it,” he explained.
He also cautioned the Electoral Commission that “any tricks they will play to change the results will lead this country into a serious disaster.”
