In a grand ceremony held at the Eusbett Hotel on Saturday, 13th July 2024, Rotarian Foster Akwasi Asante was inaugurated as the new President of the Rotary Club of Sunyani East. The event marked the club’s 12th Handing Over Ceremony and was attended by notable figures including Hon. Alfred Tuah-Yeboah, Deputy Attorney General of Ghana, and representatives from various traditional councils and organizations.
In his inaugural speech, President Asante shared his journey to becoming a Rotarian and his admiration for the values of fairness, goodwill, honesty, and dedication that define Rotary members. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to lead and emphasized the club’s achievements in providing essential services and raising leaders within the community.
President Asante outlined his three-pronged approach for the year: enhancing the club’s public image, retaining members, and consolidating service projects. He proposed a “Corporate Outreach Program” to attract new members and highlighted plans to focus on maternal and child health.
Acknowledging the club’s current challenges, such as dwindling membership and financial constraints, President Asante called for unity and support from all members. He also stressed the importance of collaboration with other Rotary clubs to maximize their impact on the community.
