Don’t dare touch him – Austin Gamey warns Bryan Acheampong over ‘threats’ to Ablakwa

Labour expert Austin Gamey has issued a stern warning to Minister for Food and Agriculture Bryan Acheampong, advising him to desist from issuing threats to North Tongu legislator Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.

This comes after Mr Acheampong, in an interview with Accra-based Citi News, accused Mr Ablakwa of targeting him in an attempt to end the Social Security and National Insurance Trust’s (SSNIT) sale of 60% of its stake in four hotels to his company.

He argued that the North Tongu MP was playing politics with the matter.

“He [Ablakwa) said this whole thing is not about Rock City. Yes, its about me and I have intercepted documents about him going after Rock City and It is not about SSNIT. Its not about the interest of the hotels but its about politics and its about his hate. We are going to play on the turf of politics. He is doing politics, it has nothing to do with the hotels and its pure politics,” he said on July 12.

This comments Mr Gamey considers as a threat to the North Tongu MP and warned Bryan Acheampong to desist from same.

“Some may say he is slow, but it is better to hasten slowly sometimes. I appreciate what they have done, and we must also congratulate our friend and brother, Hon. Sammy Okudzeto Ablakwa. Anyone who dares to harm or mistreat him will do so at their peril and will never be forgiven,” he said on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show.

“Nobody dares touch him, nobody dares do him anyhow, whoever does that will do it at their peril, they will never be forgiven.

Mr Gamey lauded Ablakwa’s efforts, highlighting his work with the terminated SSNIT hotels sale and his commitment to ensuring that SSNIT funds are not misused by the government.

Mr Gamey also emphasised the need for organised labour to ensure that not only UTAG but all beneficiaries, including young people, understand the long-term impact of current actions.

He urged the younger generation to recognise the efforts made to protect state asset and advised them to emulate same when in positions of power.

“We should demand the dismantling of inappropriate practices and ensure that only the right decisions are made,” he said. “We all must act appropriately and responsibly.”

Mr Gamey concluded by expressing his commitment to contributing to the proper management of the SSNIT scheme and other vital sectors of Ghanaian life moving forward.
