Persons against Mahama’s 24-hour economy engaged in propaganda – Kobby Mensah

A senior lecturer at the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS), Professor Kobby Mensah says persons who are against former President John Mahama’s 24-hour economy are engaged in propaganda.

This comes on the back of the flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Mahama during his media encounter reiterated how the 24-hour economy will turn Ghana’s ailing economy around for better.

“The 24-hour economy will be the best accelerator or catalyst Ghana could possibly have which will increase the production and distribution of goods and services and accelerate the economic exchanges between people and companies.

The 24-hour economy is a solid way to replace imports with home-grown production of goods and that will create a solid base for a vibrant Ghanaian industry,” Mr. Mahama stated.

Speaking on Morning Starr with Lantam Papanko, the senior lecturer stated the criticism about the former President’s 24-hour economy is to change or curve people’s opinion on the policy.

Professor Kobby Mensah asked whether persons who engaged in such propaganda think others can easily buy into their propaganda.

He said the policy is going to push Ghana’s economy into an export-driven economy.

“I fully appreciate the 24-hour economy, not only from yesterday. I’ve been following the conversation. I understand it fully by my own experiences and by my own listening to what you’re saying.

“And I’m sure most people do as well. But for those who generally don’t understand it and perhaps have taken the time to listen to the former president, I am sure they have come to the conclusion that they understand what it means,” Prof. Kobby Mensah stated.

He continued: “For those who want to do propaganda, don’t bother yourself because that’s their intent. They want to do propaganda. Would they change their position? No. Yesterday, people were still flying out. What did he say? What at all did he say differently?

“And certainly, these people are stonewalled in their propaganda. How would you be able to change them? You can’t change them. So for me, you don’t actually focus on those who are doing propaganda hoping that you can get them to understand. They can’t understand because they do not want to understand it.”
