BECE 2024: 5 invigilators arrested in the Bono and Ashanti regions for possessing answered exam questions

Five invigilators have been arrested at various centers in the Ashanti and Bono regions by police for engaging in examinations malpractice during the ongoing BECE.

The invigilators were found to be in possession of answered examination questions, in a quest to send to some candidates writing the English Language paper.

Director of Public Affairs for the West African Examinations Council, John Kapi told 3FM on HOT EDITION that the culprits have been handed over to the police for investigation.

“We have had a good start, except for the fact that some 5 invigilators have been arrested in the Ashanti and Bono regions for possessing already answered questions to want to give to their students. Some of them screenshots on their phones, with 2 having the papers themselves. They were quickly picked by the NIB personnel, for investigation to begin,” he explained.

The Council during a press conference on Friday July 5, indicated it had stepped up efforts to ensure the integrity of the examinations, including a security team from the Police, NIB, GES.

He cautioned students and invigilators to stay off any engagements that will mar the sanity of the examination.

We have put in measures to ensure there are no cases of exam malpractice and we will not spare anyone who falls short of it.
