Democracy relies on the integrity and transparency of electoral processes, values that have recently been tested in the Tano North constituency in the Ahafo Region of Ghana. In the just ended EC’s limited registration exercise overwhelmingly exposed an attempt by the NPP to collude with the Electoral Commission to register minors from Bormaa Senior High School on the electoral roll. This conspiracy was uncovered by the executives of the NDC of Tano North Constituency, with the dedicated help of lawyer Foster Asante and his team from the law firm , Enso Nyame Ye Chambers.
Registration of minors in recent dispensation of politics have sought to undermine the integrity of our fourth republic democracy. The NPP was accused by the representatives of the NDC for attempting to register minors, aged 13 to 17 years , for the upcoming elections which raised a whole lot of controversies even to a point that the district disciplinary committee defended the NPP that the facts presented by the NDC cannot be substantiated, however the high court proceedings is proving otherwise.
