STATEMENT ON THE ALLEGED MURDER OF A YOUNG LADY IN THE TECHIMAN NORTH CONSTITUENCY: THE TRAGIC DEATH OF HANNAH AKOSUA FRIMPOMAA

I am deeply saddened to address the tragic incident that has recently occurred in our beloved constituency. It is reported that the lifeless body of Hannah Akosua Frimpomaa was discovered on the 19th of June 2024 at a location said to be around Atunkurase in the Techiman North Constituency. This heinous alleged act of murder has not only shocked but also grieved us all. First and foremost, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the deceased during this incredibly difficult time. The loss of a young life, full of promise and potential, is a profound tragedy that affects us all. My inquiry indicates that the deceased hailed from Offuman and was a student of Atebubu College of Education. I have since visited the family and commiserated with them.

As a Member of Parliament, and by extension the people’s representative of the constituency, I want to commend the swift response and diligent efforts of our law enforcement officers. The District and Regional Police Command of the Ghana Police Service have shown exemplary dedication and professionalism in handling this case thus far. Their immediate actions in
securing the scene, gathering evidence, and beginning the investigation are commendable and give us hope that justice will be served.

However, given the gravity of this alleged crime and its impact on our constituency, especially as we are ushering into an electioneering campaign, I am calling on the Inspector General of Police to take a personal interest in this case. We must utilize all available resources and expertise to ensure a thorough and expedited investigation. The involvement of the highest levels of our police service will underscore our commitment to bringing the perpetrator(s) to justice and
restoring a sense of safety and security in our constituency.

And to the perpetrator(s) of this heinous alleged crime that smacks of ritual murder, which has the potential to destabilize our peaceful constituency, this is what I have for you:

“Woe to the wicked! Disaster is upon them! They will be paid back for what their hands have
done” (Isaiah 3:11)

“For there is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and nothing concealed that will not be known or brought out into the open.”(Luke8:17)

On this note, I urge all constituents to remain calm as I make every effort to pursue the case to its logical conclusion. I further urge and encourage any member of the public who may have information related to this case to come forward and assist the police in their investigation. Your cooperation is vital in helping solve this crime and preventing such tragedies in the future.

Let us come together as a community to support the victims family, cooperate with law enforcement, and ensure that such a devastating incident does not recur in our peaceful
constituency.

Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare (Mrs.)

Member of Parliament
Techiman North Constituency
