The Ghanaian comedian, Derrick Kwabena Bonney, who goes by the name DKB, is not happy with something Gifty Afenyi-Dadzie said. Madam Afenyi-Dadzie is the National Prayer Director for a group called Aglow International Ghana.
On Saturday, June 15, 2024, at a special thanksgiving service, Madam Afenyi-Dadzie said that even though Ghana is going through a lot of hard times, God has been good to the country. She talked about problems like the economy, power outages, water shortages, and the weather.
But DKB thinks that what she said is not fair. He believes that people like her are the reason why many young people in Ghana don’t want to go to church anymore.
In a post, DKB wrote, “It’s people like these that have made the youth lose interest in the church. During Mahama’s time, wasn’t God’s grace available? Rubbish!”
Madam Afenyi-Dadzie had said that even with all the challenges, God’s mercies have kept Ghana peaceful and stable. She pointed out that people are still having weddings, parties, and other celebrations, even though the cost of living has gone up a lot.

She also said that compared to other countries around Ghana that have had really bad natural disasters, God has been very kind and generous to Ghana.
Aglow International Ghana has a thanksgiving service every year where mostly women from all over the country come to pray. They pray for the leaders, the government, and for God to help make things better in Ghana.
But for the past seven years, while President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has been in charge, some people have said that Aglow hasn’t been as critical of the government as they should be. These people think that Aglow was much harder on the government when John Dramani Mahama was president, but they seem to be easier on the current government, which is from a different party called the New Patriotic Party.
DKB’s comment shows that not everyone agrees with what Madam Afenyi-Dadzie said. He thinks that if God’s grace is helping Ghana now, then it was also there when Mahama was president. It seems like DKB believes that Aglow is not being fair in how they talk about the different governments.
