The Minister of State at the Ministry of Finance and Member of Parliament for Atiwa East, Abena Osei-Asare has said that there is a need to reform the global economic architecture.
However, she said, this reform should be deeply linked to Africans taking control of their own destiny.
She said this at the 2024 Afreximbank Annual General Meeting which took place in Nassau, Bahamas from 12th to 15th June, 2024.
During the event, Ghana and Bermuda explored areas of economic cooperation.
Ghana’s delegation, led by Abena Osei-Asare held a bilateral meeting with Minister of Economy and Labour in the Bermuda Government Jason Hayward JP and Alexia Hefti, Special Representative for Africa and the Middle East, both from Bermuda to discuss areas of possible economic cooperation.
Madam Osei-Asare in her address said “Many have pointed to the inherent biases in the global economic order as obstacles to our efforts.
“However, reforming the global economic architecture is deeply linked to us taking control of our destiny”.
She added “It is time for action, not words, to unite as Global Africans towards owning our economic destiny.
“A resilient Afreximbank is vital to global Africa’s prosperity and nothing or nobody will stop us if we are united in our purpose of Global Africa prosperity”.
