Don’t underestimate the Ghanaian – Duncan Williams to Politicians

The presiding Archbishop and General Overseer of the Action Chapel International Ministry Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams has warned politicians against regarding Ghanaians as passive citizens who are inclined to avoid trouble.

The Archbishop noted that previous happenings in the country involving violence and bloodshed were perpetrated by Ghanaians.

“Nobody should think that the Ghanaian is very gentle, don’t-like-trouble human being. It’s not true. Because I saw what happened in ’79 and ’81 and they were Ghanaians,” he said.

Archbishop Duncan Williams was speaking at an engagement organized by the John Mahama Campaign which brought together members of the Christian Ecumenical Council.

The council constitutes the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC), the Christian Council of Ghana, the Council of Independent Churches, Apostolic Fathers, and the National Council of Charismatic and Christian Churches (NACC).

He further insisted that thinking Ghanaians gentle would be a recipe for disaster.

“If we don’t manage things well and we have this mentality and thinking that any party can do whatever they want and the Ghanaian will accept it and the Ghanaian will live for it, they might be playing with fire,” the Archbishop advised.

He tied the current economic desperation to the tendencies of citizens to engage in violence if the opportunity arose.
