Alhaji Sinare criticized Dr. Bawumia for claiming that the NPP government had restored and was paying allowances to teachers and nursing trainees. He argued that this restoration was actually a scam and a scheme meant to deceive the trainees. Sinare highlighted that the previous government, under John Dramani Mahama, had replaced the trainees’ allowance with a feeding grant to improve college infrastructure, eliminate the quota system, and ensure automatic job placement for trainees after completion of their courses.
Sinare presented a comparison of the benefits under the two policies. He calculated that under Mahama’s policy, a trainee would receive a total of ghs33,360 (a semester feeding grant of ghs560 × 6 semesters(3yrs) plus an average monthly salary of ghs2,100.00 for 12 months after completion of the course). On the other hand, under the current administration, a trainee would only receive a total of ghs16,260 (an allowance of ghs398 × 8 months × 3 years plus a National Service Scheme payment of ghs559 × 12 months), without the inclusion of SSNIT payments and the reintroduction of the quota system in colleges.
Sinare urged the public, especially the trainees, to critically analyze Dr. Bawumia’s promises, cautioning that many of his previous promises had not been fulfilled. He highlighted some unfulfilled promises, including the provision of one million dollars per constituency, the construction of 350 new senior high schools, the implementation of the “one village, one dam” project, No village will be left without Water and toilet facilities, and the establishment of a bank account for all Ghanaians.
