Twenty Armed Bandits Linked to Ruling NPP Arrested at Voter Registration Centre in Okaikoi North

Earlier this morning, the anti-robbery unit of the Ghana Police Service arrested twenty (20) armed individuals at the voter registration centre in the Okaikoi North Constituency. The suspects are believed to be affiliated with the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

During the operation, law enforcement retrieved several weapons, including live ammunition, cutlasses, and other dangerous items. The bandits were detained while publicly smoking marijuana behind the district court, adjacent to the registration centre.

This incident follows a violent attack yesterday by the same group on the office of the sitting Member of Parliament, Hon. Theresa Awuni. During this attack, several innocent voter registrants sustained serious injuries.

Sources within the Police regional command have disclosed that senior NPP officials are currently at the police station attempting to secure bail for the detained individuals. Notably, some of the men arrested are already on the police wanted list for severe crimes, including robbery and murder.

Despite the gravity of the situation, the Ghana Police Service has yet to issue an official statement. This silence contrasts with the prompt statement released in a recent case involving Hon. Collins Dauda. Concerns are growing over a potential cover-up of this serious matter.

The public and political analysts alike are watching closely to see how the authorities will handle this situation. The news was first shared by Sammy Gyamfi, raising further questions about transparency and accountability within the police force and the ruling party.
