Attempt to besmirch the integrity of Collins Dauda has failed – NDC in Ahafo Region

The Regional Communication Officer for the opposition National Democratic Congress, NDC, has described the news of the arrest of the Member of Parliament for Asutifi South Constituency as a forlorn attempt to destroy the integrity of Hon. Collins Dauda.

The Ghana Police Service in a post on Sunday, May 12, 2024 announced the arrest of the Member of Parliament for Asutifi South.

”The Ghana Police Service has arrested the Member of Parliament for Asutifi South, Hon. Alhaji Collins Dauda, for his alleged involvement in the disturbances which occurred at Kukuom in the Ahafo Region during the ongoing Limited Voter Registration Exercise, on Saturday 11th May 2024” the statement indicated.

Reacting to this statement, the Ahafo Regional Communication Officer for the NDC entreated the general public to treat the said news with the contempt it deserves.

”We entreat each and everyone to treat the news with the kind of contempt it deserves, for it carries no iota of truth in it. It is only the wish of some disarrayed politicians who have realised another storm of defeat inevitably staring at them”’ he said.

*Response to news about the arrest of Honorable Collins Dauda, Member of parliament for Asutifi-South*

Attempt to besmirch the integrity of Honorable Collins Dauda in an election year can only be wonder to a day old child, for some of us who have followed national politics for a while will not flinch at such news.

Collins Dauda has been the member of parliament for the people of Asutifi-south for twenty- eight years, he has been part of seven out of the eight parliament in the fourth republic, Collins Dauda has in all the seven times he has been elected as member of parliament for the good people of Asutifi-South done so by winning credible elections, untainted by fraud and or flawed results.

Even during the 2020 elections when his seat was among the few seats targeted to be snatched by hook or crook means by the NPP government, he won overwhelmingly as Member of Parliament.

The popularity of Collins Dauda in the eyes of his constituents stems from the fact that he offers effective and responsive representation to his people, a man who is color blind in offering help and support to persons who knock on his door, will never lose favor in the eyes of God, a man whose benevolence knows no boundary will never be cursed.

We admonish his partisans and sympathizers to keep calm and never lose hope in the man who is known for championing the cause of the weak, speaks for the voiceless and provides strength to the weak. We encourage you to hold on to your faith in him and be reminded that to every cloud there is a silver lining, they never knew that they burry a seed, their attempt to submerge a calabash will unearth their ‘folly’.

This is the same man who have been demonized and tarred with the brush of violence, yet continues to win credible elections on seven occasions. In 2020 a credible research showed that Honorable Collins Dauda was the best Member of Parliament out of the two hundred and seventy-five Members of Parliament in terms of development and effective representation. The people of his constituency who are the rightful deciders of who represent them are not weary about his service, they are proud of the kind of leadership offered them by the Member of Parliament, the news of his arrest will not wash away the confident and affections the people in his constituency have for him.

The news of his arrest is one of the attempts to make the man unpopular, but, thank God that those who vote for him are fed up with this desperate attempt by his opponents to mar his hard won reputation. His secret for winning elections is a mystery and puzzle to his opponents who day dream that this tactics will enhance their electoral fortune in the impending parliamentary election. At many times they try to trap him and anytime he escapes, this time too we promised that just as they tried fruitlessly to stifle the missions of the old prophets, they will not succeed this time too.

We entreat each and everyone to treat the news with the kind of contempt it deserves, for it carries no iota of truth in it, it is only the wish of some disarrayed politicians who have realized another storm of defeat inevitably staring at them.

Honorable Collins Dauda is the Member of Parliament for the Asutifi-South Constituency and he continues to be, his loyalty and commitment is tied to the constituency of which he serves as a member of parliament. He is a man of peace and defender of peace; he has never been charged and found guilty of any violence and disorder in all his long years of political life.
