There are evidences that if women are given the chance, they can perform very well – NDC Bono Women’s Organizer

The Regional Women’s Organizer for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Bono Region, Hajia Fati Abubakar, has commended former President and Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress, HE John Dramani Mahama, for his choice of running mate for the 2024 General Elections.

The Flagbearer, HE John Dramani Mahama on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 officially inaugurated the Former Vice Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang as his running mate for the second time.

The Bono Regional Women’s Organizer for the NDC, Hajia Fati Abubakar on behalf of women in the Bono Region, expressed appreciation to HE John Dramani Mahama for his decision to maintain Professor Jane Naana going into the 2024 General Elections as his running mate.

”I would like to also, on behalf of all Women Organizers, both Regional and Constituency in the Bono Region, join hands with the millions of well wishers and supporters of our party across the country, to congratulate our mother, Professor Naana Opoku-Agyemang on her re-appointment as the Vice Presidential candidate to HE John Dramani Mahama in the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections”.

According to Hajia Fati Abubakar, Professor Naana was re-appointed because of her track record of ”selflessness, transparency, honesty, sense of discipline amongst others.

Hajia Fati Abubakar intimated that there is evidence that if women are given the chance, they can perform very well if not better than their male counterparts and called on Ghanaian women to rally support for Professor Jane to become the first Vice President of Ghana.

”The few women who have made it to the top of their organizations are ample evidence to prove this point. According to Hajia Fati Abubakar, ”the evidence of the efforts of the NDC party to empower women is evident in a lot more women holding high public offices than ever before in our governance system.

The Bono Regional Women’s Organizer for the NDC further urged her colleague women to take interest in decision making processes at any level.

”Every human being has the right to participate in decisions that define and impact his or her life. This is the foundation of the ideal of equal participation in decision making among women and men. The decisions that are taken affect not only the takers but also all others. Therefore, my argument is that, since women know their situation best, they should participate equally with men to have their perspectives effectively incorporated at all levels of decision making” she stressed.

Hajia Fati Abubakar beliefs that ”a balanced participation of both women and men in decision making is bound to produce different shades of ideas, values and leadership styles leading to a fairer and more balanced political party.

The Bono Regional Women’s Organizer for the NDC made these remarks on Sunday, 28th April, 2024 in her address at the inauguration of the NDC Bono Regional Women’s Wing Working Committee in Sunyani. The program, was graced by the National Organizer for the NDC, Hon Joseph Yammin, the Deputy National Women’s Organizer, Abigail Elorm Mensah, Hon Adama Sulemana, MP for Tain with Hon Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare Esq as the Special Guest of Honor.

The other dignitaries were the Bono Regional Chairman, Ambassador Kwadwo Nyamekye-Marfo and his Executives, together with the Constituency Women Organizers and their deputies across the region.
