NDC’s Obeng Agyenim Boateng Rebuts Salam Mustapha’s Allegations, Exposes NPP’s Double Standards and Calls for Genuine Accountability

Salam Mustapha of the opposition-Bond NPP alleges on the 25/4/2024 on Hello FM stated that, in a proper functioning democracy, President John Dramani Mahama would face legal consequences rather than freely campaigning, citing the Airbus scandal. However, his assertion demonstrates a shallow understanding of democratic values and principles and the use of state power which goes in a long way to demonstrate the incompetence of this government and his poorly calculated attempt to tarnish the hard-earned reputation of His Excellency John Dramani Mahama.

Mustapha Salam seems to have overlooked that his party has been in power for more than seven years without initiating any formal investigation against President John Mahama regarding the Airbus affair. Instead, Salam Mustapha and his allies continue to engage in cheap political rhetoric, using the Airbus scandal as a tool to sow discord. For context, the UK Crown Court dismissed the Airbus case due to a lack of evidence, and John Dramani Mahama’s name was never mentioned in the investigation.

If Salam Mustapha truly believes in accountability, he should call for the prosecution of current government officials involved in several egregious, corrupt dealings that have cost the nation billions and jeopardized the future of coming generations. Instead of pointing fingers, he should focus on addressing the scandals that plague his own party. This includes the controversial Agyapa royalties deal, the Australian visa racket, the mysterious disappearance of excavators, and the questionable PDS energy concession led by Dr. Alhaji Bawumia—all of which have contributed to the country’s economic downturn, surging unemployment, and diminished national pride.

It’s ludicrous and an outright indictment of his own government that Salam Mustapha, the NPP National Youth Organizer, asserts that Akufo-Addo, with Bawumia as his Vice President, is at the helm of a dysfunctional democracy. His words are a stark admission of the grim reality plaguing the country—nothing is functioning, from the economy to the most basic services.

Salam Mustapha should redirect his efforts towards meaningful accountability and cease spreading misinformation that only deepens the divide within the country.
