Election 2024: It’s not surprising that some people have returned to the NPP – Mustapha Gbande

In a political twist that has captured attention across Ghana, a group of young politicians who previously defected from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to join Alan Kyerematen’s Movement for Change has announced their return to the NPP. Led by former NPP parliamentary candidate aspirant for Adentan, Alfred Ababio Kumi, the group publicly admitted their mistake and declared their renewed support for the NPP flagbearer.

In a press conference held in Accra, Ababio Kumi humbly acknowledged their error, stating, “It has become evidently clear that we made a mistake; a mistake that we humbly admit and are ready to work to ensure that its dire effect is reversed or averted.” Their decision to return to the NPP comes amidst deep reflection on the future of Ghana, particularly sparked by the February 7, 2024 speech by the NPP flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

In light of these developments, Mustapha Gbande, a prominent political figure, has weighed in on the matter. Gbande expressed that it’s not surprising that some people have returned to the NPP, given the evolving political landscape and the compelling vision presented by the party’s leadership.

The decision of these young politicians to rejoin the NPP underscores the dynamic nature of politics and the importance of principled leadership. Gbande emphasized that the NPP’s commitment to addressing the concerns and aspirations of young people is resonating, leading to a realignment of support among the youth.

Furthermore, Gbande highlighted the significance of unity within the party as Ghana approaches the crucial 2024 elections. He stressed the need for all members to rally behind the NPP flagbearer and work collaboratively towards securing victory for the party.

As the political landscape continues to evolve, the return of these young politicians to the NPP serves as a testament to the party’s resilience and ability to inspire confidence among its members. With Mustapha Gbande and other leaders voicing their support, the NPP is poised to harness the energy and enthusiasm of the youth to drive positive change and progress for Ghana.
