The Deputy Secretary of the National Democratic Congress for the Ashanti Region, Baah Acheamfour, has insinuated that the leadership of Akufo-Addo can not produce a free and fair election.
“We are going into an election where Nana Akufo-Addo is the president and you want a free and fair election, then you are dreaming.”
The party’s Secretary in the Ashanti Region made these claims on Angel Morning Show Monday, April 8, 2024, while expressing his view on the missing biometric verification devices as reported by the Electoral Commissioner.
According to Baah Acheamfour, various institutions come together to work for a free and fair election, however, Nana Akufo-Addo as the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces hasn’t put in enough measures to ensure a free and fair election.
He cited instances where security agencies harassed citizens during elections.
“Various institutions come together to make elections free and fair. How can you consider election as free and fair when the police and military beat citizens during voting,? he quizzed.
He added that due to Akufo-Addo’s inability to address some of these occurrences during elections clearly show his unpreparedness to promote a free and fair election.
His most worrying concern is Nana Addo’s comment on handling over power to Dr. Bawumia.
“He has told you that he will do everything in his to ensure that he hands over power to Dr. Bawumia and you believe him when he says he is going to give you a free and fair election,” he questioned.
