Contrary to earlier reports, Rev. Dr. Amisshaddai Owusu Amoah, the Commissioner General of the Ghana Revenue Authority, has not been dismissed by President Akufo-Addo. Instead, his tenure was extended by two years, from October 11, 2021, when he reached retirement age, until October 10, 2023.
Sources indicate that a subsequent contract extension was granted, with his term now set to conclude on March 31, 2024. According to independent sources cited by JOYBUSINESS, Rev. Dr. Amisshaddai remains in his position and is scheduled to vacate office on Sunday, March 31, 2024.
Recent scrutiny from Minority parliamentarians has questioned the legitimacy of Rev. Dr. Amisshaddai’s continued tenure, citing his eligibility for retirement. Reports suggest that Julie Essiam, the current Deputy Commissioner of the Ghana Revenue Authority, may succeed him upon his departure from the GRA.
In a separate development, President Akufo-Addo has accepted the resignation of Mr. Anthony Oteng Gyasi from the GRA Board. A statement issued by the Secretary to the President, Nana Bediatuo Asante, conveys the President’s well wishes for Oteng Gyasi’s future endeavors.
