The ex-Chief Executive Officer of the now-defunct Beige Bank, Michael Nyinaku, is set to call upon the accounts of 61 individuals as witnesses in his ongoing theft case, as revealed by his legal team during a session at the Accra High Court.
During the court proceedings on Monday, March 4, lead counsel Thaddeous Sory informed Justice Efia Serwah Asare-Botwe that they had submitted the names of the initial fifteen individuals out of the total 61 whom Nyinaku intends to summon to testify.
Justice Asare-Botwe reminded Nyinaku’s defense team of the case management conference’s agreement, emphasizing that the defense was expected to begin presenting its case on this day.
In an effort to expedite proceedings, the presiding judge stressed the importance of providing witness statements for the listed individuals promptly. Consequently, she directed the legal representatives of the Beige Bank CEO to submit the witness statements by Friday, March 8, and ensure the prosecution is duly notified.
Michael Nyinaku is facing trial on 43 charges, including nine counts of stealing, 25 of fraudulent breach of trust, and another nine related to money laundering. Despite the array of charges, Nyinaku has maintained a not guilty plea. The court adjourned the case to March 13.
