The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Tano North Constituency, has criticised Dr Gideon Boako, the NPP Parliamentary Candidate for his failure to lobby to bring more developmental projects to the constituency and particularly, his hometown.
The Tano North NDC Communication Bureau in a press statement recounted a number of challenges the constituency is faced with for which, Dr Gideon Boako, could have solved them easily using his position as advisor to the Vice President, a position he has held for almost 8 years.
”The NPP primaries in Tano North selected Dr Gideon Boako who, for seven years of working at the Office of the Vice President and serving as the economic advisor to the Vice President, could not lobby for the construction of four major deplorable roads leading to his own hometown, Bomaa”.
The Communication Officer for the NDC in Tano North, Michael Boakye Houston, alleged that ”it is ridiculous for Dr Gideon Boako and Dr Freda Prempeh to spend huge sums of money on ordinary party primaries while constituents wallow in abject poverty.
”It is clear and evident that monies meant to facilitate developmental projects in the constituency were pocketed and rather used for this party primaries and this tacitly explains why our dear constituency is helplessly stagnated in terms of development” he added.
According to Michael Boakye Houston, Dr Gideon Boako is an integral member of the NPP government that has mismanaged the country to bring economic hardship to Ghanaians and urged the good people of Tano North to reject him with ease and go for Hon Pius Opoku who is unblemished and has the qualities to lead a positive change in Tano North.

ADDRESS ON THE DISGRACEFUL TANO NORTH NPP PALIAMENTARY PRIMARIES: A SPECTACLE OF WEALTH AND INFLUENCE.
Today, the Tano North Communications Bureau of the National Democratic Congress issues this press statement to express our deepest disappointment concerning the distribution of substantial sum of money and other valuable items to delegates’ by Dr. Gideon Boako and Dr. Freda Akosua Prempeh of the New Patriotic Party in the just ended Parliamentary Primaries. The Parliamentary Primaries which was held in Yamfo on the 27th January, 2024 was generally characterized by vote buying, invectiveness, violence and buying of delegates’ integrity and conscience.
We in the NDC firmly believe in the principles of transparency, democracy and fair electoral practices. The attempt by these two aspirants to financially induce and manipulate the democratic process in the just ended primaries is deeply worrying and warrants immediate attention.
The primaries, which was supposed to birth the more competent candidate rather selected the candidate who was the higher bidder. It selected the candidate whose qualifications and competence was not base on the transformational ideology of the constituency but rather his amount of questionable wealth. It selected the more deceitful candidate who once upon a time was the secretary to the so called unemployed graduates association at the time he was a lecturer at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). It selected a candidate who for seven years of working at the office of vice President and serving as the Economic Advisor to the vice President could not lobby for the construction of the four major deplorable roads leading to his hometown (Bomaa).
It is unfortunate to share over hundreds of millions of old Ghana cedis of state funds acquired through suspicious means to some selected few people in the constituency at the time, there is too much hardship in the system, at the time various degrees of taxes have been slapped on the faces of the good people of Ghana, at the time when exchange rate is galloping with a jet-like speed, at the time when public debt has hit over 650 billion, at the time when the ordinary Ghanaian pays taxes on every momo transaction, at the time when the President is telling us to tighten our belts.
It is instructive to note that, over hundred and ten billion old Ghana cedis worth of money and other materials were given to delegates during the primaries and below is the breakdown,
Candidate One
Amount of money shared = GHS 5000 * 668 delegates
= GHS 3,340,000.00
Mobile phones = GHS 1000 * 668 delegates
= GHS 668,000.000
Two boxes of agro chemicals to each delegate = GHS1000 * 668
= GHS 668,000.00
Flat screen TVs worth GHS 4,608.00 = GHS 4608 * 668
= GHS 3,078,144.00
TOTAL AMOUNT = GHS 7,754,144 .00
Candidate Two
Amount of money shared = GHS 5000 * 668 delegates
= GHS 3,340,000.00
Motor Bikes giving to some selected delegates = unquantifiable
TOTAL AMOUNT = GHS 3,340,000 .00
GRAND TOTAL = GHS 11,094,144.00
It is ridiculous for these two candidates to spend these huge sums of money on ordinary party primaries, whiles constituents wallow in abject poverty. It is clear and evident that monies meant to facilitate the developmental projects in the constituency were pocketed and used rather for this party primaries, and this tacitly explains why our dear constituency is helplessly stagnated in terms of development. In Tano North today, about 85% of our roads are in a deplorable state; it is very disgraceful for a candidate to afford the payment of these huge sums of money to delegates but cannot support less than 40 learners in Sereso Basic School with infrastructure and potable water, cannot rectify the bed deficit nightmare haunting staffs of many of our health facilities in the municipality, cannot support first year boarding students of Bomaa Senior High School who are sleeping on the bear floor without beds, cannot connect the good people of Kwabena and its environs to the national grid, cannot expand the hostel facilities of Tanoso nursing training and midwifery and many others.
We are with this release admonishing the good people of Tano North to on 7th December, 2024 reject with ease Dr. Gideon Boako, the Parliamentary candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) who has been integral part in the mismanagement of Ghanaian economy pushing over 85000 Ghanaians down the poverty line as economic advisor to the vice president.
Tano North NPP should bear in mind that, it has been 28 years of failed leadership, lies, frustrations and disappointments that the good people of Tano North have witnessed under their representation in parliament.
It is time to free the good people of Tano North, it is time to emancipate the good people of Tano North from political slavery and it is time to rescue the constituency from the elephants under the candidature of Hon. Pius Opoku.
We therefore sympathize with the good people of Tano North for their continuous pains, sufferings and frustration under this hopeless super incompetent government. It is very prudent for us all to come together in unity and work tirelessly towards the victory for the NDC in 2024.
Dear Tano North Constituents, this too shall pass for the victory of the NDC is coming again.
Thank you all.
