There is a growing high tension within members of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Dormaa Central Constituency in the Bono Region of Ghana.
Dr Yao Yeboah, who is one of the only two candidates in the NPP Dormaa Central Parliamentary primaries has described the outcome of the election as over voting and has consequently called for its annulment.
Dr Yao Yeboah, in his three page letter dated Sunday, 27th January, 2024 and sighted by Masemtvgh, petitioned the Chairman for the Dormaa Central Election Committee and copied the Bono Regional Chairman and the General Secretary of the NPP.

In the petition, Dr Yao Yeboah alleged that he has detected over voting in the results and cannot accept the outcome hence his petition to annul the result for a fresh recount.
”My petition is as a result of what I jave detected as over voting in the said election. Consequent upon my submission, I do not accept the results of the said elections and therefore, call for re-counting and annulment of the results based upon the outcome of the re-counting” he stated.

Dr Yao Yeboah contested with the incumbent Member of Parliament who doubles as the Minister for Health, Hon Kwaku Agyeman-Manu in the Saturday’s Parliamentary primaries where an earlier results announced by the Bono Regional Research and Elections Director announced that his only contender Hon Kwaku Agyeman-Manu won with 345 votes as against 339 votes secured by Dr Yao Yeboah with 3 rejected ballots. In all, Mr Henry Osei, the Bono Regional Research and Elections Director indicated that total valid votes cast was 687.
