President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has granted an extension for the completion of the audit on the transaction between the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Ltd (SML). Originally set for Tuesday, 16th January 2024, the deadline has now been extended to Friday, 23rd February 2024, following a request by KPMG, the auditing firm assigned to the task.
Eugene Arhin, Director of Communications at the Office of the President, conveyed in a statement on Wednesday that “KPMG is to submit its final report no later than Friday, 23rd February 2024.”
The President also addressed GRA’s request seeking permission to continue using the monitoring system installed by SML despite the suspension of GRA-related operations. President Akufo-Addo has rejected GRA’s plea, directing that the suspension of the contract’s performance should persist until the audit is completed and KPMG submits its final report.*
