The Member of Parliament for Wenchi constituency, Alhaji Seidu Haruna has sponsored 177 students who attend various tertiary institutions around the country from his constituency. This is third time the MP is doing this since he assumed the high office of Member of parliament of Wenchi in 2021.
Speaking at a ceremony held in Wenchi last Saturday, Alhaji Seidu Haruna said, “I believe education is the key to national development. That’s why every year I spends part of my share of the Common Fund to sponsor tertiary students from Wenchi Constituency with cash donations as a way of cushioning them to complete their programs on the various campuses. The aim is to develop and produce quality human capital in Wenchi constituency, and from that real development will come in all spheres of life”
This year, the MP sponsored 177 tertiary students from Wenchi Constituency in a ceremony held at Wenchi District Office of the Ghana Education Service on Saturday, 20th January, 2024.
One of the recipients of the sponsorship package given by the MP said in an interview, “We thank Alhaji Seidu Haruna for putting his share of the Common Fund to good use by helping to educate the youth in Wenchi”
Another recipient also said, “Alhaji Seidu Haruna has proven to the people of Wenchi that he deserves to lead the constituency for more terms, and we believe the people of Wenchi will vote massively for him come December 2024. We don’t have to change our MP because we have a working MP. Alhaji Seidu Haruna is a trustworthy and honest person”.
The Wenchi seat was snatched by Alhaji Seidu Haruna in the last polls in 2020 and since then the MP has become one of the shinnig stars of the Bono Region. He is expected to retain the seat given the good works he has done so far and how visible he is in the constituency every weekend.
