John Mahama Expresses Deep Sorrow Over Tragic Events in Bawku and Calls for Unity in Pursuit of Justice and Peace

In a poignant statement, former President John Dramani Mahama conveyed his profound sadness and concern regarding recent developments in the Bawku municipality, particularly the reported killing of three men, as confirmed by soldiers from the Ghana Armed Forces. The former Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces acknowledged the challenging task faced by the security services in maintaining peace in the Bawku area but emphasized the critical need for collaboration between the military and the police to ensure safety and security not only in Bawku but across the nation.

Reflecting on his past role as the head of the Armed Forces, Mahama urged military personnel to be mindful of their duty to protect the people and uphold peace. He extended his heartfelt thoughts and prayers to the families of the victims, recognizing the immense pain they must be going through in this difficult time.

Expressing a call to action, Mahama appealed to the people of Bawku to come together and actively contribute to the promotion and consolidation of peace in the municipality. He stressed the importance of unity and cooperation to facilitate the positive development of Bawku.

I am deeply saddened and disturbed by recent developments in the Bawku municipality and the killing of three men, as confirmed by soldiers from the Ghana Armed Forces.

While I recognise that our security services face the difficult task of securing peace in the Bawku area, the military must work hand in hand with the police to provide safety and security in the Bawku municipality and across the nation.

As a former Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, I urge the military personnel to remember their duty to protect the people and uphold the peace.

My thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims during this difficult time, even as I call upon the people of Bawku to endeavour to promote and consolidate peace to enable the positive development of the municipality of Bawku. Let us all work together to ensure justice is served and peace is restored in Bawku.
