The Cyber Security Authority (CSA) is alerting the public to a significant increase in job scams throughout Ghana, emphasizing the need for heightened vigilance among citizens.
With reports streaming in through its cybercrime reporting channels, the CSA has documented at least 15 cases, resulting in a cumulative loss exceeding GH₵124,000 for the victims.
The perpetrators of these scams adopt a strategy of impersonating recruiters, initiating unsolicited communications with individuals and presenting enticing job opportunities. These fraudulent offers often promise substantial salaries and require minimal effort, characteristics that raise suspicions among those familiar with legitimate job markets.
In a statement, the CSA issued a warning: “If an employment offer appears too good to be true, it’s likely a scam.” The advisory serves as a reminder for individuals to exercise caution and employ discernment when encountering unsolicited job opportunities.
