Franklin Cudjoe, the President of IMANI Africa, has conveyed his empathy towards Ghana’s upcoming president in light of the ongoing trend of tax introductions by the current New Patriotic Party (NPP) government.
In response to the recent implementation of the Value Added Tax (VAT) on residential electricity consumption starting January 1, Mr. Cudjoe foresees the potential for additional taxes, given the government’s articulated need for increased revenue.
During an appearance on The Big Issue on Citi TV last Saturday, Mr. Cudjoe underscored the critical importance of prudent economic management.
Expressing his apprehension, he voiced concern for the challenges the next president will face in navigating the complexities brought about by numerous tax policies.
“I believe it’s crucial to exercise caution in how we approach economic matters. I feel sorry for the upcoming president of this country because it implies grappling with the burden of taxes without any breathing room whatsoever,” he remarked.
