The Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, launched a blistering critique against the incumbent MP for the Bantama constituency, Francis Asenso-Boakye, accusing him of corruption. Agyapong, well-known for his outspoken nature, made these allegations during a meeting with Bantama delegates in Kumasi ahead of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) primaries.
Agyapong claimed that Asenso-Boakye, who also serves as the Minister of Works and Housing, was involved in corrupt activities during his tenure at the Presidency and urged delegates to vote against his re-election. Despite his strong statements, Agyapong did not provide concrete evidence to substantiate his claims.
Moreover, Agyapong hinted at potential explosive revelations regarding Asenso-Boakye’s alleged corruption, indicating that he would disclose them only if delegates re-elected the incumbent MP. He framed this as a conditional offer, implying that their decision would dictate whether he remains silent or exposes the purported wrongdoing.
“If you make a mistake and vote for Asenso, you will all bear witness to the revelations I will unveil. It is a condition,” Agyapong emphasized. “If you don’t want me to talk, vote against him. If you want me to talk, vote for him because we will not allow them to destroy Ghana.”
Agyapong, actively campaigning for his brother, Ralph Kwame Agyapong, who is also contesting the Bantama seat, seeks to influence the NPP delegates’ decisions as they prepare to elect parliamentary aspirants on Saturday, January 27, in constituencies with sitting MPs.
