NDC MPs Call for Controller and Accountant General’s Resignation Over Political Ambitions

Members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Parliament are pressing for the immediate resignation of the Controller and Accountant General, Kwasi Kwaning-Bosompem. This demand arises after Kwaning-Bosompem expressed his intent to contest the New Patriotic Party’s Akim Swedru Constituency Parliamentary Primaries against the incumbent MP, Kennedy Nyarko Osei.

Despite receiving calls to step down upon his nomination, Kwaning-Bosompem remains in his position. NDC MPs view this as an unacceptable overlap of roles, with concerns raised about potential biases and conflicts of interest.

Murtala Mohammed, MP for Tamale Central, highlighted the seriousness of the matter, urging an immediate investigation by the Office of the Special Prosecutor. Mohammed emphasized the Controller’s pivotal role in managing public funds and stressed the need for neutrality in such a position.

Echoing these sentiments, Rockson Nelson Dafeamekpor, MP for South Dayi, underscored the importance of maintaining the integrity of public office. Dafeamekpor called for a review of Ghana’s governance structure and urged all public servants with political ambitions to step down to preserve the principles of non-partisanship in public service.
