The National Chairman for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Hon Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has stated that the Bono Region has been deprived of development under the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia government for the past seven years in government.
The National Chairman made this comment during his press conference in Sunyani on Wednesday, 22nd November, 2023 at the Chesville Hotel.
Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, who is a former three term Member of Parliament in the Bono Region and a native of the Region, expressed worry about the rate at which several projects that were initiated and began under the Mahama administration have all been abandoned in the region. This, he said, does not speak well of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) who claim to have former Prime Minister of Ghana, Kofi Abrefa Busia, as one of their key founding members.
”The tour has further brought the curious case of acute neglect and abandonment of development in the Bono Region under this government. The evidence is there for all to see and this has been corroborated by the chiefs, opinion leaders and the people of this region. The truth is that, the Bono Region is currently experiencing its worst spell of under development under the fourth republic of Ghana.
Johnson Asiedu Nketiah further stated that ”almost all the campaign promises made to this region by the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia government have turned out to be pipe dreams.
The media engagement was organized to speak on the renaming of the Sunyani Regional Hospital to a Teaching Hospital.
