In a surprising turn of events, the 1st vice chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Dormaa Central Constituency, Chairman Owusu Boakye, has openly expressed his disappointment in the Akufo-Addo government for its alleged neglect of road construction in the Dormaa Central and Bono Region. Chairman Boakye’s discontent stems from what he perceives as a failure on the part of the current administration to fulfill promises made to the residents regarding the completion of vital road projects.
According to Chairman Boakye, the previous government under John Mahama initiated the construction of the Dormaa to Aboabo road, reaching an impressive 80% completion rate. Additionally, the Amasu to Kyeremasu road was reportedly at the bitumen stage of construction. However, he lamented that these commendable efforts seem to have been abandoned since the inception of the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia government.
The vice chairman revealed that both the Member of Parliament for the area and the party executives had assured residents of the completion of these crucial road constructions. Unfortunately, these promises have allegedly remained unfulfilled, causing frustration among the local population. Chairman Boakye emphasized that the neglect of such infrastructural projects could have serious consequences for the NPP in upcoming elections if urgent attention is not given to the deplorable state of roads in the region.
The Dormaa Central Constituency, like many other areas in the country, relies heavily on well-maintained roads for economic development, transportation, and overall quality of life. The unfulfilled promises of road construction not only affect the daily lives of the residents but also cast a shadow on the credibility of the ruling party.
The vice chairman’s public expression of disappointment highlights internal discontent within the NPP and draws attention to the need for the Akufo-Addo government to address the infrastructural challenges facing Dormaa Central and the Bono Region as a whole. Failure to do so may not only jeopardize the party’s chances in future elections but also hinder the socio-economic progress of the affected communities.
As the government faces criticism from within its own ranks, it is imperative that swift and effective measures be taken to address the concerns raised by Chairman Owusu Boakye. The neglect of crucial road projects not only impacts the reputation of the ruling party but also raises questions about its commitment to fulfilling promises made to the electorate. In the face of these challenges, the NPP must reassess its priorities and demonstrate a renewed commitment to delivering on its pledges for the betterment of the people it serves.
