Limited gas supply will affect power supply in some parts of the country – GRIDCo

Ghana Grid Company Ltd. (GRIDCO), responsible for operating the National Interconnected Transmission System (NITS), wishes to inform the public that, due to restricted gas supply to the Tema region, there will be a 550MW power deficit during peak hours.

This shortfall will impact electricity provision in specific regions of the country. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Editor’s Note: GRIDCo, established in December 2006, manages the efficient dispatch and transmission of electricity from wholesale suppliers (Independent Power Producers [IPPS]) to bulk customers and distribution utilities in Ghana and West Africa. It assumed operational control on August 1, 2008, following the transfer of the Transmission System Department and its core personnel from VRA to GRIDCO. GRIDCO is responsible for the National Interconnected Transmission System (NITS) and currently serves thirty-one (31) Bulk Customers and Distribution Utilities from eleven (11) Wholesale Suppliers, including the Volta River Authority (VRA).
