Leaders of Democracy Hub, the organizers behind the FixTheCountry and OccupyJulorbiHouse protests, recently engaged in a productive and confidential two-hour discussion with the Chief of Defence Staff and Senior Officials of the Ghana Armed Forces. The primary aim of this meeting was to formally acknowledge the partnership between these two organizations and to reaffirm their joint commitment to enhancing and safeguarding democracy in Ghana.
During this closed-door conversation, both parties engaged in an honest and open dialogue, addressing a range of crucial issues. As preparations continue for the upcoming #OccupyJulorbi 2.0 protest scheduled for December, the democracy advocates were heartened by the military’s unwavering dedication to upholding the rule of law. Furthermore, the Ghana Armed Forces provided assurances of their steadfast belief in the importance of the freedom of assembly, emphasizing that this fundamental right is an integral and non-negotiable element of Ghana’s democratic journey.
