The Mepe and other surrounding communities affected by the flood today received various relief items from Business magnate Mr. Ibrahim Mahama following the flooding of various communities after the spillage of the Akosombo Dam. The Business Maganate led his team to donate the relief items for the affected communities. The items included 20,000 bags of 5kg rice, 24,000 cans of Mackerel, 12,000 bottles of cooking oil, 400 packs of water and 1,000 pieces of student mattresses.
The Chief Executive Officer of Engineers & Planners and Dzata Cement dispatched the relief items to the victims of the Dam spillage on Tuesday, October 24. The items arrived at Mepe on Tuesday afternoon. Mr. Ibrahim Mahama and his team were welcomed with a durbar by the Chiefs, Queen mothers, The DCE, The MP’s, representive of NDC and NPP and the good people of the affected communities. The durbar was held at GP JHS park at Mepe. Mr. Ibrahim Mahama’s donation is the biggest support yet from an individual or any institution to the displaced people some of whom are having to lodge in schools, tents, churches and mosques because their homes were massively flooded following the Akosombo Dam spillage.
Presenting the items to the Chiefs, The DCE of Bator, The MP’s and the people of the affected areas, Mr. Ibrahim Mahama said “the relief items is to commiserate with the people following the Dam spillage. He also promised to help brilliant but needy students affected by the flood.

Receiving the items on behalf of the community, the DCE for North Tongu, Hon. Divine Osborn k Fenu thanked Mr. Ibrahim Mahama and his team for the massive donation. He said this donation has put more smiles to the people living in the affected communities.
Hon. Ablakwa on behalf of the MP’s thanked Mr. Ibrahim Mahama and his team for his support for the affected communities. Hon. Ablakwa assured him there ll be equity in the distribution of the items to all the affected communities. The Paramount Chief of Bator, Torgbega Patamia Dzekley VII expressed gratitude to Mr. Ibrahim Mahama for coming to their aide at this crucial time. He said, they are very excited for this massive donation from the business mogul. He said, this will put smiles on the faces of those affected by the massive flooding.
The Dam spillage in Akosombo came with it massive waters that quickly inundated communities around the dam stretching several kilometers. It affected eight di B stricts across three constituencies: North, Central and South Tongu. The donation by the business magnate ll be distributed to the three affected constituencies.
Mr. Ibrahim Mahama is one of biggest philanthropist in Ghana. He has a long history in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), often simplistically seen as charity or philanthropy. Mr. Ibrahim Mahama through his companies spend millions of dollars annually in Social and Environmental programs, disaster reliefs in support of critical government health and educational programs at both the community and national levels.
Some of Mr. Ibrahim Mahama companies are either into mining or trading heavy duty mining equipment to companies in the industry and is also involved in other business interests. He is the owner of Asutsuare Poultry farm, one of the largest poultry establishments in Ghana. Until recently, his company MBG, use to be the Man Diesel Dealer in Ghana.
The new addition to his businesses is Dzata Cement Limited and also Renault Trucks from France. Dzata Cement Limited, is the only Ghanaian owned Cement Plant and its capacity is 2.6 million tons and it is the biggest stand alone plant in Ghana. The cement has started hitting the Ghanaian market. It’s expected to provide employment opportunities for several thousands of Wholesalers and Retailers, across Ghana and the West African sub-region. The dealership agreement with Renault Trucks was recently signed in France.
