The flag bearer hopeful of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Afriyie Akoto has said he is hurt with the exit of former Trade and Industry Minister, Alan Kyerematen from the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The former Trades Minister has resigned from the NPP to contest the 2024 elections as an independent presidential candidate.
Mr. Kyerematen also accused the party of skewing the processes in favor of one candidate and intimidation of his supporters during the super delegates conference of the party on August 26, 2023.
Commenting on the development on Starr Chat, the flag bearer hopeful stated that politics is about numbers and every member of the party counts.
“We are in politics and politics is about numbers. It doesn’t matter the stature of the person. It could be the youth organizer of MA Primary School Polling Station. If he turns his back on us I am equally hurt as any member so for me it’s just unfortunate.
According to him, he is not happy when he hears that people are leaving the NPP.
The former Agric Member is however optimistic that the NPP will win the 2024 general elections. “We need every soul to bring the 8 next year. I am confident that we will break the 8.”
