Leadership Of Minority In Parliament Concludes Fruitful Discussions With Ghana Police Service On Upcoming #occupybog Protest

The Leadership of the Minority in Parliament today concluded fruitful discussions with the Greater Accra Regional Police Command on the upcoming #OccupyBoG protest slated for Tuesday, 5th September, 2023.

It would be recalled that the Minority on Monday, 21st August, 2023, notified the Police of our impending protest march to, among other things, express our revulsion at the illegal printing of money by the Bank of Ghana for the corrupt Akufo-Addo/Bawumia NPP government which has caused inflation to continue to surge; we further reiterated our demand for the immediate resignation of the Governor of the Bank of Ghana and his deputies for recklessly mismanaging the bank and superintending over several acts of malfeasance.

Further to our notice, the Greater Accra Regional Police Command invited the Leadership of the Minority to discuss the modalities for our planned protest.

The Minority’s delegation comprised of Hon. Armah Kofi Buah, Deputy Minority Leader and MP for Elembele, Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim, Deputy Minority Chief Whip and MP for Banda, Hon. Mahama Ayariga, MP for Bawku Central, Hon. James Agalga, MP for Builsa North and Hon. Bernard Ahiafor, MP for Akatsi North.

The Minority was joined at the meeting by the Leadership of Arise Ghana, which comprised Comrade Bernard Mornah, Comrade Rex Omar, Comrade Mordecai Thiombiano, Comrade Prince Derrick Adjei and Comrade Abdul-Rahman Zakari.

The discussions were cordial, as the Police led by the Regional Police Commander laid out their propositions and arrangements towards the protest march. The Minority on our part reiterated our commitment to a peaceful protest. Both parties committed to work together to ensure a successful protest march.
