The Dormaahene and President of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs, Osagyefo Oseadeyo Dr. Agyemang Badu II has described the proposed Bank of Ghana new headquarters to be constructed at the cost of 250 million dollars as highly a misplaced priority.
The Dormaahene expressed his displeasure about the Bank of Ghana initiative at the first general meeting of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs during the year in Sunyani.
He described it as unacceptable for the Bank of Ghana which has declared an operational loss of money to the country at the tune of 60.8 billion Ghana Cedis to use part of the 3 billion dollars IMF contracted loan to execute its building project.
He, therefore called on the government to halt the Bank of Ghana’s glamorous projects and use the money to address critical development needs.
He said if he had the power to demolish such projects, he would have done it with ease.
He is therefore calling on the President to invite the Governor of the Bank of Ghana as a matter of emergency to the proposed headquarters.
The highlight of the meeting saw the swearing-in gazetting of two Chiefs as officially recognized members of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs.
They are Nana Amoapong Tabrako III of Wenchi and Osagyefo Ampem Anye of Kwatwoma.
The Sunyani High Court Judge, Justice Harry Opoku Acheampong led the two Chiefs to take the oath of secrecy.
