The NPP on July 11, 2023 opened nominations for parliamentary primaries in constituencies where the party does not have representation and the process was expected to end on Thursday, August 10.
At 5 pm on the closing day, only two persons have picked and filed their nomination forms to contest Nkoranza South primaries. These persons are, Hon Charles Kunadu Yiadom, former MP for Nkoranza South and aide to the chief of staff ,Mrs. Harriet Oppong Kyeremanteng.
The dyad, are bigwigs of the party and have greater support base, meeting in a contest could be described as the clash of the titans.
Date for the election is yet to be announced by the election committee. However, the national party has scheduled September to December for the periods within which all orphan constituencies primaries election should be held.
Both the Elections committee and Constituency executives have made the processes free, fair and transparent to all aspirants. The Constituency Chairman, Mr. Clement Owusu Agyei has issued stern warnings to the aspirants and their supporters to embark on clean campaign devoid of insults, attacks and counter attacks that may have repercussions on the party come 2024 general elections. He has incontrovertibly stated that, the Elections committee and his leadership would not hesitate to apply appropriate sanctions to party people who turn deaf hears to guidelines and rules set by the party to govern the primaries.
